Community Foundation Panchkula
Situated right next to Nada Sahib Gurudwara are some slums. In these slums are innumerable children who are under nourished. Hence, in the year 2008, our founding members decided to provide a nutritious meal to children from near by areas. They started with single meal per week and slowly they were feeding 150 children one healthy meal every day. Along with this, need for providing the children good education also rose. Thus two teachers were hired and they daily started teaching children.
This has been continuing for more than a decade now with the support of our friends and family.
Slowly we also started celebrating all festivals with children by serving them special meals on festivals like Diwali, Ashtami, Holi, Christmas etc. In the month of April with new school session beginning, all children are provided stationary items. With the onset of winters, warmers and blankets are provided to all children.
From time to time we offer internships to children of class 7th onwards, who wish to volunteer and help the community children.
During peak Covid times, we provide free nutritious meal to home quarantined families in Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Zirakpur and near by areas.
The Community Foundation Panchkula is a non-governmental organization located near Nada Sahib Gurudwara, where several slums can be found. These slums house numerous undernourished children. Recognizing this issue in 2008, our founding members took the initiative to provide these children with nutritious meals. Initially, they started by offering a single meal per week, but gradually, they managed to provide 150 children with a healthy meal every day.
Realizing that education was also a crucial need for these children, the foundation hired two teachers who began teaching them on a daily basis. This educational support has been ongoing for over a decade, thanks to the continuous support of our friends and family.
As our relationship with the children grew, we started celebrating various festivals with them. On occasions such as Diwali, Ashtami, Holi, Christmas, and more, we serve them special meals to make these festivities even more memorable. Additionally, during the month of April, when the new school session begins, we provide stationary items to all the children. And as winter arrives, we ensure that each child receives warm clothing and blankets.
Recognizing the potential in the older children of the community, we offer internships to those in 7th grade and above who wish to volunteer and contribute to helping other children in the community. This gives them an opportunity to develop their skills while actively making a difference.
During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, we extended our support further by providing free nutritious meals to families who were home quarantined in Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Zirakpur, and nearby areas.
Throughout the years, the Community Foundation Panchkula has remained dedicated to addressing the immediate needs of undernourished children, as well as fostering their education and overall development. Our commitment to this cause has been sustained by the unwavering support of our loved ones, enabling us to make a positive impact on the lives of these children and their families.
